Why It Is a Problem Shopping At Some Malls

Back in the 1960's & '70's, shopping at the mall was the thing to do. They were the "In Thing" in making consumer marketing because all the stores were in one place and usually covered. They are usually cheaper to inclement in clusters and also cheaper utilities such as air conditioning. However, in 2008, the trends have changed. One reason is that malls are limited in physical space and customizations that they can offer. The ones that succeed are because of customer service and experience. Another reason is that people are transitioned to window shopping and most malls do not have a lot of windows. Used to be, prior to malls when people went shopping, it was for the purpose of making a purchase. With the emerging of malls, stores could have 1000 shoppers a day, but end up with only 25 sales at the end of the day.

One big reason that malls may be closing or losing business is due to the fact that suburbs have changed. Another reason malls or closing is due to inflation and today's economy. Who would have thought a few years ago that the price of a gallon of gas would be over $4.00? There are still some shoppers who may not feel comfortable at malls due to the shootings and recent violence at some of our nations malls. Some shoppers feel that a curfew should be put in place and that women in particular should be escorted out of the malls by security personnel.
